Welcome to the Greater Newark Healthcare Coalition
The Greater Newark Healthcare Coalition is a collaborative compromising people with substantial decision-making authority in health care, government, academia, social service, and community advocacy.
GNHCC’s mission is to significantly improve quality and access to health care for the residents of the Greater Newark area by collaborating to develop initiatives specifically aimed at identifying and limiting disparities and other barriers that lead to poor health outcomes in order to improve health and well-being.
As such, GNHCC drives health planning efforts directed at improving the structural, governmental and social conditions necessary for improving the health status of the communities we serve.
Advancing the adoption of trauma-informed care
Trauma-Informed Care is an approach that takes into account the individual’s experience of trauma and instead of asking the question “What’s wrong with you?” asks “What happened to you?” GNHCC is dedicated to making Newark a Trauma-Informed City by 2020.
TARGETED NEIGHBORHOOD APPROACH
GNHCC’s population health initiatives are led in partnership with the Healthy Greater Newark ACO. Our initiative consists of three major components: Regional Population Health Information Exchange (HIE), Data Analytics, and Care Coordination.
MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH
GNHCC is dedicated to protecting and advancing the health of mothers, infants, children and adolescents in the Greater Newark area. GNHCC’s programs target reproductive health, infant mortality, healthy eating, and environmental health.
Faith bASED STRATEGIES
Faith In Prevention works to expand the role of faith-based organizations in the delivery of health prevention services. GNHCC’s goal is to encourage healthy lifestyle choices through policy, systems, and environmental change, and ultimately reduce the burden of chronic disease among the Newark community.
